When I looked at this painting, I thought I could see an explosion of life — an entanglement of wild flowers and plants — emerging from one another. This is why I decided to call the painting “Symbiosis”. You see, four years ago, when we first moved Sebastien to Bali, our immediate concern was how much our lives would be changed. What we could not have anticipated would be how beautifully entangled our lives would be with those of our carers — Bema and Hari. We have created a “family” that transcends borders and cultures.
