AUTISM ART LEGACY: A NON-VERBAL AUTISTIC ARTIST'S SOUL

A friend, who is aware of my endeavour to promote and sell Sebastien's art to support his future, suggested that the public may not believe that Sebastien, a non-verbal autistic individual, is capable of producing such paintings.
Though such perceptions can be dispelled by the videos of Sebastien below, the existence of the scepticism reflects our narrow understanding of people like Sebastien. Just because Sebastien doesn't communicate his inner life with words, we often assume that people like him lack depth in thought and emotion.
This cannot be further from the truth. It is precisely due to his awareness of his difference and others' perception of him as a "lesser being" that makes his life in this world so difficult.
Therefore, the Autism Art Legacy Campaign to promote and sell Sebastien's art is also an endeavour to confront such thinking. In order to be a genuinely INCLUSIVE society, we must be OPEN to educating ourselves on how to relate differently to others, instead of just imposing our way on them.
No relationship should be a one-way street. This is no different with autistic individuals.
