Autism Art: Jean-Sebastien Choo, Abstract, Acrylic Art on Stretched Canvas

What will happen to Sebastien, my non-verbal autistic son, when I am gone?

This is a question that parents of children with high lifelong support needs confront with worry and concern, as they grow older. We have long accepted that we assume the preponderant responsibility of preparing for our children’s uncertain future even when we are gone.

AUTISM ART LEGACY — the launch of our campaign to promote Sebastien’s acrylic paintings on stretched canvas — is about transforming the narrative of Sebastien’s dependence on us.

We are enabling him to contribute to his future by harnessing his unique artistic talent and passion and turning it into his livelihood. In doing so, we want to support him in being a purposeful co-creator of his own future.

AUTISM ART LEGACY also commemorates our rocky road to this moment of fostering Sebastien’s artistic aspirations without simultaneously struggling with his unhappy eruptions. It has taken eight years, which has involved setting up a new life for Sebastien in Bali away from us, nurturing good carers, and learning to respect Sebastien's inner life.

Please share the Autism Art Legacy campaign with those who can support us with purchases, rentals, and exhibition opportunities. We would also love the opportunity to raise awareness about non-verbal autism.

Thank you.
