AUTISM ART LEGACY: SEEKING A CHAMPION OF PAINTINGS BY SEBASTIEN, NON-VERBAL AUTISTIC ARTIST

Our aspiration is to connect with those who can help us do justice to Sebastien's creativity and his singularity and enable him to co-create his future with us. Please introduce us to promising leads!

Final Product: See the tiny penguin dancing on the ledge? :

I receive videos of my autistic son Sebastien's activities in Bali every day. Despite receiving countless videos of him painting, I watch each one of them, scrutinising the following aspects separately and as an integrated whole. There are Sebastien's facial expressions, the presence (absence) of smiles, the sounds he makes (e.g., ponderous hums or high-pitched tunes) or quietness, the body language — how he is moving his entire body and how he is interacting with the canvas and the tools...

They tell me how Sebastien is feeling that day.

To me, Sebastien's paintings are rare and special because they encapsulate the essence of who he is without words — words are not his language, not the way he can reveal his inner life. Rather, through his paintings, he "invites" us to suspend our typical thinking to connect with his daily endeavour to still his fears and anxiety of living in our world.

This is what he paints, this is who he is at that moment in time. It doesn't get purer than that.
